The typical American diet consists of processed foods-refined sugars and starches such as bread, pasta, potatoes, snacks and sweets, etc. The pancreas must constantly pump out insulin to take care of all the sugar (or glucose) that makes up these foods to regulate your blood sugar levels.”
From the minute that carbohydrates are consumed, they are broken down into glucose in the bloodstream and then whatever is not needed immediately for energy is converted into fat and stored. Eating a diet that is full of these processed foods or a high-carbohydrate diet, forces the pancreas to work overtime and eventually can lead to insulin resistance. When a body becomes insulin resistant and produces excess insulin, it results in a drastic drop in the blood sugar level (hypoglycemia), and thereby leads to sugar cravings. More sugar is consumed, and the cycle starts over leading to excess fat storage and yes, excess weight.
3-Step Plan
There are three plans with each consisting of three steps.
Step 1 – Weight Loss
- you will have a minimum 3 packets of the ITG protein foods per day. Follow until you have met your desired goal.
Step 2 – Transistion
- the key to your weight loss stabilization success.
- You will slowly re-introduce moderate amounts of fruits, fats and carbohydrates to your diet each week for 4 transition weeks.
- This allows your body to re-adjust to producing the correct amount of insulin needed and helps you keep those unwanted pounds off.
Step 3 – Success in Life
- You continue to eat the way you’ve been taught.
- You have achieved your weight loss goals, rested your pancreas and have learned to eat and maintain your new healthy weight by choosing healthy foods and a balanced diet.
What to expect
Each plan
In each plan you will be taking out some foods from your diet that is why the supplements are mandatory while on the plan. The only other foods that you will be purchasing in addition to the ITG foods are veggies, green leafy salads and meats, fish or seafood. You can eat out on this plan; however, you will need to make good choices. Thus, you will save money at the grocery store each month.
You will receive all of the guidelines on the foods from your coach. For example, we take out the starches on this plan which are your breads, rice, potatoes etc. And alcohol… Oh yes, I love my wine too. To lose weight, we have to give up some things… But this is temporary. There is light at the end of the tunnel.
Average cost per meal is $4.28 which is under $14 per day for the Food. If you would have had a salad at a restaurant, for example a restaurant like Applebee’s, you would spend about $20 with your salad, beverage and tip. So, you will find yourself saving money on the plan!
